THE POPULAR Mondomix Festival, held annually at Calbourne Watermill, has been postponed due to illness.

The mixed arts event, which specialises in new and often unfamiliar world influenced music from artists resident in the UK, was due to be held between May 31 and June 2.

However, organiser Gerry Priddle is unwell, and his family, who are all involved in the festival, have decided to shelve the project for the time being.

A family statement said: "The Mondomix Festival will not be going ahead on the planned dates.

"Unfortunately the main organiser, Gerry Priddle, has become quite unwell so is currently making regular visits to hospital for tests and will now be in over the weekend we had planned for the event.

"This festival is put on by us as a family and is heavily reliant on everyone to work together.

"We are sorry to have let anyone down who was due to be performing, helping or attending Mondomix.

"We will be continuing to plan our regular events at Aspire, and the Riverside Centre, as well as looking for future dates for the festival."

People who have already bought tickets will be reimbursed.

The event is organised through the World Village Project, a non-profit organisation which celebrates diversity through music, and is supported by Arts Council England.
