FIREFIGHTERS from across the Island have been tackling a fire in East Cowes this evening (Monday).

Around 30 hay bales caught fire and multiple fire crews were called to the scene.

The large fire in the open required team work from multiple different crews with a range of equipment.

Two water carriers and the fire and rescue service Land Rover were called out to support the efforts of firefighters in the rural location.

Crews were called to the scene just before at around 8.30pm.
