AN OPEN top bus and a car have crashed in Freshwater this afternoon (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to the scene at Queens Road and Moons Hill, at 4.28pm, a spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said.

A Southern Vectis Needles Breezer became wedged alongside a Honda as a result of the incident.

Fire crews from Freshwater and Newport were called out, as it was initially thought people were trapped, but the Newport crew were stood down before they arrived as the four people in the car had freed themselves from their vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service said no one required treatment.
