THOUSANDS of cyclists arrived on the Island this morning (Sunday) for the annual Randonnee cycle event.

Roughly 3,000 cyclists are expected to take part in today's event.

The event, which sees cyclists take part in either a full loop of the Island (100km) or a half loop (55km), is now in its 35th year.

Cyclists on both routes will be navigating the Island clockwise and there are many different starting points.

A spokesperson for the event said: "It's an event on open roads for all to enjoy and for us to be mindful of other road users, ambassadors of cycling and the event."

Other road users are encouraged to drive carefully among the crowds of cyclists and to allow plenty of time for journeys.
