A COMMUNITY project has been launched by Ryde Lions Club and Haylands Farm volunteers.

The project has seen an disused building on the farm site developed into six purpose-built flats for people with long-term support needs.

Ryde Lions Club has donated to a number of Haylands Farm's projects.

"We were only too pleased to help," said John Smith, Ryde Lions social service chair.

MENCAP Manager, Nichola Cook, said: "We are really appreciative of the donation from the Lion's Club members, and would be grateful for any contributions from members of the public and other organisations.

"There are many demands on our funds from local people with mental health issues."
