A NEW multi-purpose business that includes a coffee shop, car wash and launderette, has opened in Totland.

C&C Services is a partnership involving Costa Balan and Cosmin Irizea, of La Cucina Restaurant in Yarmouth, and has been built on the site of a former derelict garage in The Broadway.

On opening day, the red ribbon was cut by IW Council chairman, Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox and vice chairman, Cllr George Cameron, who also represents Freshwater North.

Costa said: "Originally, we were only looking at a commercial and domestic dry cleaners, but once the old building was demolished we saw there was so much extra land.

"So we decided to include the car wash and coffee shop. Our first thoughts for the coffee shop was just a room for customers waiting for their cars to be washed.

"But there is nothing for people in the village, so we decided to expand the coffee shop to serve all sorts of coffees, tea, soft drinks and homemade cakes.

"We will be open from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week, and we are still looking for extra staff."

The launderette, which includes an ironing service, has not been completed but should be in operation within a month.

Cllr Peacey-Wilcox said: "Thank you for investing in the local community and I hope people support you. I wish you every luck in this innovative business idea."
