THESE pictures of raucous club nights from the 1990s were shared with the County Press by seasoned Island DJ, Ian ‘Knocka’ Dore.

They show a popular club night that used to take place at the Balcony in Ryde — Dynamite.

Ian said: “These pictures capture the essence, feeling and emotion of what Dynamite was.

“They make me smile every time I see them and instantly I’m catapulted back into the madness of all the nights that it ran for.

“It wasn’t planned like that; it wasn’t planned at all. It was as if the planets had aligned and helped us create the beautiful monster it turned out to be.

“Of all the nights I’ve done, it’s the one I’m the proudest of and the one that created the best friendships and memories.

“Superb venue, brilliant bar staff, happy club staff, professional door staff and, most of all, amazing clubbers.

“DJ-wise, it saw Brandon Block, Alex P, Lisa Lashes, Judge Jules, Jon OO Fleming, Lisa Pin Up, Sarah Chapman, Mike Cosford, The Lovely Helen, Stretch and Vern and loads of other massive names touch down on our shores for the first time ever.

“It was critically acclaimed in all the dance music publications and when the London press turned up to see 800 people giving it the large on a Thursday night on the IW, they were floored.

“From an Island perspective, it was something to be very proud of.

“Dynamite also opened doors for Allan and I — we DJ’d at other major nights, such as Come Dancing in London, Club Class in Wales, Ministry Magazine launch party, The Gallery and probably our favourite, Progress in Derby.

“We were lucky, it’s as simple as that. The clubbers make the night and that’s what made Dynamite special — we just played the odd good tune here and there.”
