AROUND 3,000 properties in the Newport area were affected by a power cut this afternoon (Tuesday).
At 5.01pm, a fault on an electrical transformer resulted in a loss of power for thousands of homes and businesses on the Isle of Wight, a Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks spokesperson said.
An automated security system kicked in and got all properties back on line within two minutes, the spokesperson said.
SSEN engineers are on site carrying out investigations.
