CHILDREN recuperating in St Mary's Hospital will be cheered with plenty of arts and crafts materials thanks to the Isle of Wight Ice Skating Club’s synchronised ice skating teams.

Members visited the Children's Ward to donate the gifts as a thank you to the Island for all the positive support shown to them during the recent synchro competition season and following the recent BBC Inside Out programme coverage. The teams’ captains and vice captains met Dionne Davies, play specialist, and Becky Hepworth, children’s community team leader, and had a tour of the newly-built ward and mid-build new playroom.

Dionne said: “It's been a pleasure to have the synchro teams on the ward to meet some of the children and talk about their skating.

"They kindly brought with them a great selection of art and craft activities which will cheer up the children, keeping them happy and busy whilst they recuperate.

"We are really grateful to the girls for thinking about our young patients and wish the Isle of Wight synchro teams every success in their competitions."
