As you tuck in to your Easter eggs on Sunday, spare a thought for fundraiser Ian Gregory, who hopes to be at least halfway through his attempt to cycle around the M25.

He is not actually cycling on the orbital motorway but as close to it as possible.

Ian and his wife, Jacky, fundraise on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK and Ian has set himself a massive target of pedalling 11,680 miles by Christmas.

This figure represents the number of men who will die from prostate cancer this year.

On Good Friday, Ian will set off from his home in Carisbrooke and cycle up to Heathrow

where he is staying for the Easter break.

Saturday is mainly a rest day while he prepares for his mammoth ride.

On Easter Sunday he will hit the road around 4am and cycling out past Heathrow Airport heading for the M25 before turning south towards the Surrey hills.

Cycling in an anti-clockwise direction and staying as close to the motorway as he can, Ian

expects to cover around 140 to 150 miles.

With the 11,680-mile target for the year, this will be training ahead of the Velo Birmingham and Midlands ride, Isle of Wight Randonee in May and both the London and Brighton naked bike rides in June.

He will then head for Brussels to take on the Grand Depart Classic, the first stage of the tour de France, with the Prostate Cancer UK Cycling Team.
