Vectis Radio is the first winner of the Shaping Newport Win a Window competition — designed to showcase the great things happening in the Island's county town.

Now the station has taken pride of place in a window at 30 High Street, spreading its message about community radio, and its award-winning radio school — the 4Ps Project, which gives disadvantaged young people the chance to learn about radio while also developing their communication skills.

Ian Mac, station manager, said: "We’re building the station to be at the heart of Newport’s community. Our mission is to involve as many people as possible, boosting their confidence and communication abilities, while we entertain and promote local charities and businesses."

Shaping Newport is a partnership between Newport Parish Council, Newport Business Association, and the Isle of Wight Council Regeneration team.

It aims to give people a sense of pride and belonging and make Newport a great destination, help deliver improvements to the town and its bring businesses, organisations and individuals together to develop regeneration projects.

Vectis Radio, which broadcasts on FM104.6 and online, will also be promoting the work of the other organisations that win the chance to promote their work in the same shop window.
