A DISQUALIFIED driver was arrested by police yesterday (Wednesday) after officers stopped and seized a van.

As part of a crackdown on unlicensed vehicles being driven without tax, insurance or an MoT certificate, Ryde officers, accompanied by a police dog, stopped the van as it was coming into Newport.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of taking the vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Officers posted a picture of the van on the @IOWightPolice Twitter account as a warning to other drivers.
