A PAIR of earrings made by Sara Cox was the star turn at Brighstone and District Horticultural Society's spring show.

The earrings were entered in the handicraft classes and the intricate work, magically crafted, was highly admired by the judges.

Speaking at the show, held at the Wilberforce Hall on Saturday (April 6), show secretary Sylvia Hinchin said: "Our first show of the year was a great success, and we were really pleased that there were more adult and children's entries than last year.

"With an early spring, and our show being later than usual, it also provided the opportunity to show some different varieties of flowers and plants. However, Sara's earrings stole the show.

"It was also really pleasing to have so many children's contributions which were fantastic, with lots of entries."

The show featured 112 exhibitions by 26 entrants. In the children's classes, there were 34 entries by eight children.

There were additional entries by local schoolchildren, rainbows, brownies and guides.
