ON day three of Warwickshire's annual university fixture at Edgbaston, ahead of next week's County Championship curtain-raiser against Kent, Isle of Wight-born cricket sensation Adam Hose hit a double century against Leeds/Bradford MCCU.

After scoring a disappointing 14 in his first innings, Adam more than made up for it with his 200 — retiring out on day three of the match to help set up his team for a convincing 530-run victory on Friday.

Resuming on 119 overnight, Hose made his way to his unbeaten double hundred in 169 balls, which included 19 fours and nine sixes.

Adam, who grew up in Rookley and played for Ventnor Cricket Club, before making the step up to Hampshire, Somerset and Warwickshire, had a successful winter down under in New Zealand — racking up the runs in the Burger King Super Smash T20 tournament.

Last season, 26-year-old Adam was a regular in the Birmingham Bears T20 side.

He spent time in Dubai recently preparing for the new cricket season in England for the Bears.
