THE CLASSIC musical My Fair Lady will be brought to life by The Island Savoyards.

Based on the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion, the show features well-loved songs including Wouldn't It Be Loverly, The Rain in Spain, Get Me to the Church On Time and I Could Have Danced All Night.

Hailed by critics for its heart and wit, the story follows Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins.

Higgins wagers with his linguistics colleague Colonel Pickering, that he can transform Eliza into a lady and teach her to speak ‘properly’ in just six months, and so the challenge begins.

The show will be staged at Shanklin Theatre from April 18 to 21, starring Alice Burton-Jones as Eliza and David Kast as Henry, alongside a cast of principals and ensemble, accompanied by a huge 19-piece orchestra.

Tickets are selling fast but are still available from the Shanklin Theatre box office.
