From Jenny Hicks, Lake:
I am at a loss and so disappointed Morrisons Lake store has cut down half its hedge.
The perimeter hedge around the store did have a healthy hedge with habitat for birds and species.
In January, we were advised there would have been a hedge-laying competition on the Island but it was unfortunately cancelled because of the ‘lack of hedges’.
The homes for species on the Island are eroding at a time when we are increasingly connecting with nature and the positivity nature gives to mind and body but instead of embracing nature, we seem to be eroding it at a rate.
I do hope this can be reversed and a plan to plant a new hedge can be done.
