TWO people have been rescued by coastguard helicopter this evening (Monday) after getting stuck on Culver cliff.

The casualties, who had been climbing the cliff, were winched to safety, after raising the alarm at about 7.30pm.

Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, the ambulance service and the Rescue 175 coastguard helicopter were all called out to the incident.

The two people were recovered to the cliff top by around 8.30pm.

The casualties were checked over by ambulance staff, but neither have been seriously injured and did not require conveying to hospital.
