BRIGHT yellow plastic ducks will be released into the stream at Shide on Easter Saturday — all in aid of a good cause.

Challenge and Adventure has 1,000 numbered ducks to sell through Arreton Barns, the Dairyman's Daughter, The Bargeman's, The Steamer Inn and Jewsons Sandown.

People can also buy them online at http://www.challengeadventure.org.uk/events/event/duck-race/

The ducks cost £1 and all the money raised goes to the young people's charity.

The winning duck wins £50 with many more prizes up for grabs.

Karen Eeles, from Challenge and Adventure, said: "There will be 1,000 ducks ready to float down the river — this takes approximately 20 minutes for the ducks to go from some deep water to fast running shallow water.

"It’s quite a complicated process and involves two volunteers in full wet gear moving with the ducks making sure they are not stuck in the river banks.

"We are very lucky to be allowed to use the private bridge of Mr and Mrs Walding, they allow us to launch the ducks from here."

Don't miss the duck race on April 20, starting at 12 noon.
