From Andrew Pellow, Nettlestone:

How delighted I was to read in a recent issue the idea of turning Ryde Town Hall into a ‘landmark cultural centre’ (CP 14-03-19).

This building, which is such a focal point in the architectural heritage of Ryde, needs to be revived for the good of the community today and for the benefit of future generations.

We have just enjoyed and participated in the annual IW Music, Speech, Dance and Drama Competition Festival which — when this iconic building was a town hall — hosted memorable classes, piano and organ among them.

I have played both instruments there and, even earlier, sung there in The Ryde Philharmonic Choir under David Mackersie; treasured memories indeed!

The sooner this historic building can be vibrant again the better (and I know I am not alone in expressing these wishes)
