From Brian Greening, Newport:

It now appears that the umbrella tree at East Cowes is to be saved and hooray for that.

Can we now be told where we are with the shelter at Watch House Slip (CP, 11-03-19)?

If, as we are told, it is dangerous it would not be a major job to repair it.

Four uprights supporting a small tiled roof might be putting it too simply but if a couple of quotes for repair were obtained I feel sure public subscription would find the money.

Or is there an ulterior motive for its removal?

My grandfather sat on that seat smoking his pipe in 1950 after indulging at the Union pub, and it cost him two shillings each time I caught him sitting there.
