CHARITIES never know what the next donation will be, but it was a huge surprise for Friends of the Animals when they were given more than 200 wedding dresses to sell.

Due to the retirement of the owner, who wished to remain anonymous, a wedding dress shop handed over an incredible haul including more than 200 wedding dresses, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses, mother of the bride outfits, prom dresses, and accessories including tiaras, veils and garters.

Helen Sinclair, of Friends of the Animals, said: "If you run a charity, you never know what that next donation will bring and at Friends of the Animals we've had everything from a pole-dancing pole, several dozen toilet roll holders, shipping charts covering much of the world, and a thousand pairs of panties.

"We are anxious to sell the dresses as soon as possible to raise money for veterinary treatment, which is our biggest outgoing, and we are offering everything at one third of the price, or less.

"We are willing to sell in bulk, so some items may be of interest to theatres, schools and shops.

"We have 60ft of rails, so whether you are looking for Swarovski crystals, beaded, lace, satin, tulle or silk, we have the dress for you. The majority of the dresses are size 10, 12 and 14, but we do also have lots of size 6 and 8, plus a few 16s and 18s."
