A driver crashed into a road sign last night after a cyclist crossed the road without looking.
Police responded to the car crash in Over Hulton, which could have resulted in serious injury as the driver swerved to avoid the cyclist.
The cyclist failed to stop at the scene.
Greater Manchester Traffic Police arrived at the scene in Newbrook Road, near Four Lane Ends, at around 8:39pm.
After speaking to witnesses and watching CCTV footage, the police took to Twitter to explain the crash.
GMP Traffic said: "The driver of the ford focus collided with the street sign when he miraculously avoided a cyclist who crossed the road without looking."
GMP Traffic added: "Quick reactions prevented serious injury!"
