THE Weir, by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, is the Apollo Players' next production.

Set in a small bar in north-west Ireland where locals meet to drink, smoke and tell stories to while away the long evenings, the play brings strong language and emotions to the stage along with a good dose of humour.

Josei Rourke, artistic director of London's Donmar Warehouse theatre and director of the recent film Mary Queen of Scots, has referred to The Weir as "… probably one of the greatest plays of the second half of the 20th century" – a challenge for any theatrical group, but one the Apollo Theatre cast and director look forward to taking up.

Find out for yourself what Rourke means by coming along to see The Weir at The Apollo from March 29 to April 6 (not Sunday or Monday).

Tickets are available online or from the Apollo box office on 210010.
