A SCHOOL bus has collided with two vehicles in Ventnor this morning.

The accident happened on Victoria Street at around 8.30am and involved a single decker Vectis Blue bus.

Southern Vectis is diverting its Route 3, departing from Ventnor Central car park in the High Street instead of Boots.

UPDATE 9.28am: Southern Vectis said there are no reports of injuries to any children on board. They will update shortly.

Police, fire and ambulance are in attendance, plus support from Southern Vectis.

UPDATE 10.50am: Southern Vectis has confirmed one person — the passenger escort, who provides help for the children onboard — sustained minor injuries.

General manager Richard Tyldsley said: “A Southern Vectis school bus was involved in a collision this morning in Ventnor. There are no current reports of injuries to the children onboard.

“The passenger escort did sustain minor injuries, and was treated by paramedics at the scene. We are following their progress closely and wish them well.

“Those on-board were transported onwards by a replacement vehicle, and the bus is being removed by our engineers.

“The safety of our drivers, passengers and other road users is hugely important, and we are carrying out an immediate investigation into the circumstances behind the incident.”
