RECEPTION age children at Newport CE Primary School have been learning about all the good the RNLI do.

Pupils of Fiji Class and Iceland Class enjoyed a visit by staff from the East Cowes Inshore Lifeboat Centre recently, and they handed over a cheque for £122 raised through a cake sale.

The children made cakes at school and reception class parents also donated some home-baked goodies.

The children enjoyed learning all about lifeboats thanks to the enthusiasm shown about the subject by school site manager Terry Barnes, who used to be part of the RNLI and organised for the visitors to come into assembly.
