FRIENDS of Freshwater Library have presented a cheque for £164 to the Salvation Army shelter in Newport.

The was raised after the group donated the proceeds from one of their regular film nights with a showing of 'A Street Cat Named Bob', an uplifting and inspirational film about a homeless street musician who turns his life around with the help of a similarly homeless ginger cat.

The film is based on the true life story of James Bowen.

Helen Wood, of FOFL, said: "We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause.

"The Salvation Army do a brilliant job and could probably do with a bit of recognition for their work with the homeless.

"The dinner they were cooking when I visited looked delicious."
