A COMMUNITY centre in Freshwater was transformed into the Moulin Rouge on Friday.

Around 100 people enjoyed Comedy Encore, organised by Maggie and Steve French.

A total of £1,150 was raised, for the West Wight Sports and Community Centre.

Hannah Pereira, the Vintage Songbird, opened with a captivating performance of Life is a Cabaret, followed by All That Jazz.

The programme featured folk, jazz, blues and soul, plus comic poetry.

Among the highlights were Bertie and Bob Everson’s rendition of Perhaps Love.

The final act featured the whole ensemble singing Bad Moon Rising, Back in the USSR and Roll Over Beethoven.
