PUPILS from St George's Primary celebrated World Book Day with a bundle of brand new books.

The Arreton based school received the new novels for their school library thanks to local supermarket, Morrisons.

The books were gifted in partnership between the Morrisons Foundation and the National Literacy Trust, aiming to help children from local communities fall in love with books and reading.

Carrie Fineran, community champion at the Lake store, said: "I'm delighted to be donating these new books to a local school.

"There's a great selection and I hope every pupil will be able to find a story they will enjoy."

The national project will see every Morrisons store donate a bundle of books to a local school — 7,300 brand new books for hundreds of schools.

Directors of the National Literacy Trust, Jonathan Douglas, said he was thrilled to work with Morrisons to bring the gift of reading.
