DO YOU know an inspirational young Isle of Wight person?

The nominations for this year's Child of Wight Awards are now open.

If you know a young person who has made a positive difference to the lives of others, has helped someone through a difficult time or shown bravery beyond their years, the Isle of Wight Radio awards provide an opportunity to show some appreciation and tell their story.

This year's categories include the Asa Singleton Most Courageous Child Award, Young Carer, Young Performer and Sporting Star.

John Irvine, chief executive of headline sponsor WightFibre, said: "The Isle of Wight has a great community spirit and many of our incredible young people deserve special recognition.

"As a local company, we care about giving back to the Island community where we can — and our sponsorship of the Child of Wight Awards is a great way for us to do that.

"It is an honour and privilege for WightFibre to sponsor these awards for the fourth year running and support Isle of Wight Radio in making these awards special."

Managing director of Isle of Wight Radio, Claire Willis, said the team at the radio were proud to host this incredible event and wished all the nominees the best of luck.

A full list of categories and a nomination letter can be found at iwradio.co.uk, or by letter to the station in Newport.

Nominations must be made by April 19 and the ceremony will be held at Cowes Yacht Haven on May 17.
