THE family of Christopher Davey, who died suddenly of meningitis at just 23, spoke of their frustration and upset after his inquest was postponed for a second time — and they were not even informed.

Christopher's inquest was scheduled for February, then postponed until March 5, but it did not go ahead this week either. Now his family has no idea when it will take place.

Coroner Caroline Sumeray said key statements concerning Christopher had not been provided by the IW NHS Trust, which had caused the delay.

Christopher's sister Toni Davey-Tiller told the County Press: "Christopher's death was quite sudden and there was questionable care from the call centre about sending an ambulance.

"Most of our questions centred around why we had to drive him to hospital ourselves in the end.

"The inquest was meant to go ahead this week but it was postponed and we were amazed that no-one got in contact. It leaves us stranded.

"These questions are really important to help us understand what happened and to ensure change is made, to help others in the same situation in the future.

"Christopher's death rocked the whole family and the whole Island but it feels like it's being swept under the carpet."

NHS failings and a "catalogue of woe" saw the furious Isle of Wight coroner summon the Isle of Wight's health chief into court after several inquests were delaed, leaving grieving families waiting months for answers.
