BEMBRIDGE RNLI Lifeboat launched this morning (Monday) to transfer an injured crew member from a large cargo ship to shore.

A spokesperson for the coastguard said that a crew member on board a cargo ship anchored off the Isle of Wight suffered injuries during an accident last night.

The injury required stitches and the large vessel had no other way of transferring the patient to shore, the coastguard spokesperson said.

Bembridge RNLI were called out at 9.36am this morning.
