JENNIFER Anne Kerry, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, has died, aged 72.

Born in 1946 in Milford-on-Sea, Ms Kerry moved at age five to Lake, where her parents, Robert and Georgie Kerry, ran the chemist’s for many years.

She boarded at Upper Chine Girls’ school from age 11 to 16, then attended St Godric’s Secretarial College in Hampstead, returning to the Island to settle in Godshill and work at Wacklands in Newchurch.

Ever the passionate adventurer, Ms Kerry lived in five countries and visited every continent, bringing her keen intellect, generous heart, infectious love of nature, and mischievous spirit to friends and family around the world.

Her talent for art, particularly music and painting, was recognized at an early age. She was a prolific artist, yet humble, and nurtured in others an appreciation for whimsical creativity.

As a child of parents scarred by war, Ms Kerry embodied and imbued in others resiliency, pragmatism, and a strong work ethic.

She saw parenthood as her highest calling, a privilege she approached with love, loyalty, and a sharp sense of humour.

She supported her local community throughout her life, active in Rotary Ladies Circle, the Women’s Institute, her church, and the ownership of Chale Green Stores.

Ms Kerry died after a short battle with cancer on February 5, at the University of California hospital in San Francisco.

She leaves her husband of 39 years, Vernon Tyerman, children Edward, Jeannette, Simon, Melanie, Jonathan, and Kimberly, grandchildren Evan, Kelsi, Jonah, Anika, Haleigh, Andrew, Oona, Piper, Kailani, Indio, Zaire and Primrose, and great-granddaughter Arrow.

A celebration of her life will be held on the Island on May 18, 2019.
