A MAN who last week appeared before Island magistrates for having indecent images of children, was back in court yesterday (Friday) for the same offence.

Peter Baines, 62, of Lowtherville Road, Ventnor, appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with failing to comply with the requirements of the sex offenders register and for having two indecent images of children.

Last Tuesday, February 12, Baines was up in front of magistrates charged with having indecent images of children of category B and C, non-photographic cartoon or computer animated prohibited images of children, and extreme pornography.

He was bailed for sentencing until March 5.

When officers carried out an inspection at his property on Thursday, they found two indecent images on an iPhone he had recently bought, the court heard.

For Baines, Oscar Vincent told the court that his client did not know the images were there and said they had appeared on his phone along with hundreds of other images attached to his Apple account from an old iPhone when he signed into the new phone with his Apple ID.

Baines will now be facing the extra charges from yesterday's court appearance when he appears for sentencing on March 5.
