NEWPORT'S Cineworld has shut it's doors and cancelled all film showings this evening (Thursday).

The company posted on Facebook: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closing the building for the rest of this evening."

Customers who have already purchased tickets for tonight's performances can get a refund by phoning 033300334444.

A spokesperson from Cineworld said they were very sorry for the inconvenience and said it was only tonight's performances that were affected.

The County Press has approached Cineworld for the reason for the closure.

UPDATE: The County Press understands the building had to be closed this evening due to sewage problems, possibly a leak.

Cineworld, Newport, is still closed this morning (Friday).

The earliest date available for booking online for showings at Newport's Cineworld is Tuesday, but a spokesperson from Cineworld has assured the premises should re-open tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The spokesperson also said the site had to close due to technical issues, but County Press readers said they were turned away yesterday (Thursday) due to sewage problems.

Cineworld has posted on its Facebook page: "We are currently closed while we resolve an issue with our water but aiming to reopen as soon as possible.

"Customers with tickets booked for performances can contact customer services on 0333 003 3444 to arrange a refund.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause."
