FRONTMAN of The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell, is the latest act to join the bill of Jack Up The Summer.

He is the songwriter and singer behind the monster hits Golden Brown, Always the Sun, Peaches, and Strange Little Girl which The Stranglers racked up in their heyday.

Hugh is heading to Jack Up The Summer at North Fairlee Farm on Saturday, August 10. Fans can expect a storming set of all the iconic hits, sung and played by the main man himself and

his band.

The Stranglers are widely recognised as one of the most long-lived and internationally popular bands from the original wave of British punk rock and enjoyed massive UK and European

success with 10 hit albums and 21 Top Forty singles.

As the man who propelled them to chart success, Hugh Cornwell is known as one of the UK's finest songwriting talents and accomplished live performers.

The festival organisers said: "This man is the heart, the soul, the face and the voice of The Stranglers. In a career spanning four decades he has etched himself into our musical psyche and we couldn't be more honoured that he's taking time out following his Australian and New Zealand tour this year to grace the Jack Up The Summer stage.

"Hugh will be in excellent company performing alongside Haircut 100's Nick Heyward, Heaven 17 and Aswad for our 80s day."

Hugh said: "If you're not on the Isle of Wight joining in this fabulous summer party in August, why not? You can't miss it.

"This festival is going to crackle with electricity. I like the Island a lot, it's a great location and has an interesting vibe to it."

Tickets are available at jackupthesummer.co.uk or at Island outlets including the County Press office in Newport.
