From Jill Haviland, Hulverstone:

I’d like to say a really big thank you, Todd and Jackie Carder, from Chapel Furlong Farm, Hulverstone, who ventured out aboard their tractor, to rescue myself and a friend from the treacherous Middle Road when the snow fell.

Having already encountered a fallen tree on Wilmingham Lane, we were then faced with the sight of the Middle Road near Tapnell Barns strewn with stuck or abandoned vehicles, as drivers had failed to get up the hill.

I’m not sure if the road had been gritted at all, but the conditions on the road were a complete nightmare.

Having safely parked the car off the carriageway, we walked up the hill to meet our saviours.

We were taken home by Adam Brody while Todd and Jackie continued to help other drivers — what stars!

We feel very fortunate to live in the village with such caring neighbours.
