AN ISLE of Wight business has scooped a regional award at the Portsmouth Business Excellence Awards.

Brightbulb Design, a multi-award winning design studio based on the Island, picked up a highly commended award in the Small Business of the Year category.

This follows the company's success last year, where they won South Coast Small Business of the Year and the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Marketing and PR award.

Matt Jeffery, managing director of the firm, said: "Another first for Brightbulb. Being the first business to represent the Island at these awards was a great milestone and to take home a trophy is even better.

"We want to put the Island firmly on Hampshire’s radar and having Nick Wallis specifically mention the Isle of Wight several times in front of 400 people throughout the course of the evening, because of what we have achieved, has really made our night."

Head of happiness at Brightbulb, Fiona Jeffery, said: "This year we are having a big push at Brightbulb to engage further with Hampshire and

more of the south by joining the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and attending further Hampshire events to showcase what great Island businesses and talent we have.

"This latest accolade is a real boost to our efforts."

The rigorous judging process included an extensive awards submission plus an hour-long interview with nominees that focussed on financial performance, future objectives and the company’s competitive advantage in business.
