A FRESHWATER man has been charged after a home was targeted twice within a matter of hours earlier this week.

On Monday evening, a smoke grenade was posted through a bungalow's letterbox on Sunset Close, Freshwater, and on Tuesday morning, a paint-like substance was thrown over the front door.

David Arthur Hopkins, 58, of Sunset Close, has subsequently been charged with causing arson with intent, assault, two offences of possession of an prohibited weapon and two offences of purchasing a prohibited weapon.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Wednesday).
