JACK Up The Summer have announced another act — alternative rock band, Republica.

Formed in 1994 and famed for their iconic and fiery front woman, Saffron, the band rode the Brit-pop wave of female-fronted rock groups like Sleeper, Elastica, Garbage and Lush, injecting it with their self-dubbed "techno-pop, punk rock" sound.

Between 1996 and 1999, Republica sold 3 million albums and clinched top five slots in the UK, America and Europe with platinum sales across the globe, while their hit single ‘Ready to Go’ soared to number one in many countries.

Saffron said: “The Isle of Wight has always been one of my favourite places. It has such a rich rock heritage, so we are really happy to be coming over, plus we’ve heard great things about Jack Up The Summer and are thrilled to play their first official 90s day.”

Organiser’s said: “People love to see their favourite artists again and again but it’s also important to give them a chance to see bands they might not have experienced live since they were buying their albums the first time around.

"We really want to bring some fresh names to Jack Up and our 90s day is enabling us to do just that.

"Republica will be appearing live on stage on Sunday, August 11, alongside not one but two of the biggest boy bands of the 1990s — East 17 and 911 — and will be mixing things up together with the many, many more great name acts still to be announced.”
