AN ISLE of Wight school bagged second place at their Global Rock heat at Portsmouth last night (Monday).

Christ the King College fought off six other schools to come second with their routine, Macchina Del Tempo.

The routine, based on the life of Leonardo Da Vinci, also scored the school the award for performance skill, stage use, concept, drama, soundtrack, lighting, stage crew and parental involvement.

Bessie Cursons, performance judge, said: "I’ve had a wonderful evening tonight watching all the schools perform. There was some brilliant choreography, some absolutely fantastic concepts and ideas. It’s been a real pleasure to watch."

More Isle of Wight schools will head to Portsmouth to compete in the heats later this week, with Bay CE School and Ryde School competiting this evening (Tuesday).
