EMERGENCY services have been called to a rush hour crash on Whippingham Road this morning (Monday).

A spokesperson from the Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to scene at 7.42am.

The County Press understands one person is injured and both the Ambulance Service and police remain on scene.

Southern Vectis has reported its Route 4 and 5 buses are unable to serve East Cowes.

UPDATE 8.15am:

Traffic has built up on Whippingham Road heading back towards East Cowes.

UPDATE 9am:

The Route 5 is running but there are lengthy delays on this route due to a accident on the Whippingham Road.

A spokesperson from the Ambulance Service has confirmed one patient has been taken to hospital.

UPDATE 9.10am:

A police spokesperson as confirmed two cars were involved in the collision.

Police were called after an Audi and a Peugeot collided at about 7.30am.
