BATTERING winds are forecast for the Isle of Wight today (Friday 8).

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for high winds today until 8pm.

It advises that strong south-westerly winds may lead to some disruption to travel today.

"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer."

Cross-Solent travel has been affected, with Hovertravel suspended until at least noon today.

Red Funnel's Red Jet and Wightlink's Yarmouth to Lymington ferry could also be affected later today. Both advised customers to check before they travel, due to the forecast.
