HOGSHEAD pub in Newport is planning a range of upgrades and alterations.

The popular High Street pub has lodged plans with the Isle of Wight Council to improve the layout of the pub's interior and to improve its facilities as a sports bar.

If the plans go ahead, new fixed seating booths will be built in the area by the bar where the pool tables currently stand, and the pool tables would be moved back into the area at the rear, which currently houses a walkway to the garden, a bottle store and boiler room, which will be converted into a new disabled toilet.

The new booths would be fitted with individual televisions and USB sockets.

There will also be new booths in the dining area, as well as fresh timber flooring and carpet on the lower area.

The bar will also be altered, with the removal of stud wall to allow staff to walk around the back of the bar, and new tiled flooring around the bar for customers.
