Four Island fishermen have starred in an American TV programme.

David Cheal, of Binstead, Mike Mowbray, of Godshill, Brian Gourley, of Carisbrooke, and Dale Edmunds, originally of Shanklin who now lives in California, regularly enjoy fishing holidays together.

Last year they were fishing in Florida Keys with Two Conchs Charters when they were invited to take part in a programme being filmed for The Sportsman Channel.

The crew spent the day out on the water with the Islanders, and filmed them reeling in some monster fish.

Brian Gourley said: "We were about 40 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean on the 'Marathon hump', where the ocean floor comes up to about 800ft depth and we had a fantastic time catching all sorts of hard-fighting game fish.

"At first we weren't sure about having the film crew onboard during our charter, but they were unobtrusive and we ended up getting some great photos from the drone-mounted camera to record our epic adventure.

"Most of the fish were released back into the water but we kept a few in the cooler and took them each night to local restaurants, which cooked them for our supper."

The programme, entitled From England With Love, screened at the weekend.
