THE ISLE of Wight Met Service has issued a warning about strong winds which are expected to hit the Island over the weekend.

There will be a spell of strong west to southwesterly winds affecting the Isle of Wight tomorrow night, with gusts of up to 50 mph possible.

There may be travel disruption due to the wind with the risk of some delays on cross Solent travel as well.

A second spell of strong winds will affect the Island throughout Sunday.

Northwesterly winds, gusting up to 60mph, are likely in some places through the day, especially over hills and exposed coastal areas.

There may be some minor structural damage as well as the risk of a few travel disruptions, especially on cross Solent travel.
