POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a three vehicle crash along Whippingham Road yesterday (Monday), which resulted in two people suffering serious injuries.

A 55-year-old woman, from East Cowes, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance and a 25-year-old man, from Sandown, was taken to St Mary's Hospital following the crash at 6.08pm.

As previously reported, police, fire and ambulance attended the incident in Whippingham Road which remained closed for more than four hours.
