IT LOOKS like a McDonald's drive-through is coming to Newport — after the famous golden arches were spotted on a planning document.

Developer South Coast Leisure (SCL) has lodged an application with the Isle of Wight Council for a retail and leisure park at St George's Way, featuring a 24-hour gym and drive-through restaurant.

Although SCL has remained tight-lipped over potential retailers, it has been rumoured supermarket Aldi and home and garden centre Wickes will occupy two of the six units.

McDonald's has now been added to the list after the fast food chain's 'M' logo was spotted on a planning drawing, posted with the online application documents.

The logo, marked at the entrance to the drive-through, is the same as the one currently painted at the entrance to the Ryde branch.

In addition, a transport assessment lodged with the application, comparing the number of visitors to other drive-through restaurants, namechecks four other McDonald's restaurants elsewhere in the country.
