COWES glittered with Christmas cheer last Thursday for the annual late-night shopping event.

Shops stayed open late and restaurants and bars served Christmas cocktails and mulled wine while buskers and choirs filled the streets with Christmas tunes.

The choir from Gurnard Primary School joined the fun.

Vanessa Hicks, headteacher, said: “We’re very proud of our school choir for their fantastic performance. They really enjoyed singing carols in Cowes town centre — there was a lovely atmosphere and it was a great start to our Christmas celebrations.”

Owner of Live Like This, Tracy Long, said: “We were keen to get the whole community involved in this event. Children make Christmas, and it was wonderful to hear the very talented Gurnard Primary singing their Christmas socks off. It was magical.”
