WOOTTON will have a Christmas tree after all, after businesses clubbed together to raise the cash.
As reported, the village parish council decided against buying a tree this year and gave the money to charity instead.
Disappointed Wootton wouldn't look very festive, 13 businesses donated £900 for a tree and lights.
Ben Williams, of Wootton Estate Agents, said: "We saw the story about Wootton not having a tree and thought it was a bit 'bah humbug' so we went knocking on the doors of local businesses.
"Everyone was happy to help, and the tree will be in its usual spot on the corner of Brannon Way and he High Street.
"You've got to get into the Christmas spirit, haven't you? Without a tree, how would Santa know where to leave the presents?"
