BOMB disposal teams were at Alum Bay last night (Wednesday) after a member of the public found a live unexploded ordnance.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were called out just before 5.30pm yesterday to investigate the item and it was confirmed the ordnance was live.
A Royal Navy bomb team were on scene just after 10pm and a controlled explosion was carried out.
Both teams were released at 11.42pm.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team have reminded Islanders that if they find a suspected explosive device on the coastline to call HM Coastguard on 999.
